Your dedicated case specialist will be your point of contact throughout the process. They will be able to answer any questions you have, and you can share your experience with them. If your application is accepted, you will have a meeting with your case specialist to discuss next steps and review some information. This is usually done within 7 days of your application.
Once you meet with your case specialist and your application is approved you will be onboarded to the program by taking a simple survey. Here you will share more details about the challenges you have been facing, the current status of your overall wellness, and what you hope to achieve from therapy. The answers from this survey will help us measure the improvement you make from the time you enter the program through graduation. These responses also assist us in anonymously communicating the effectiveness of our program to future donors which helps us raise more money for future participants.
You will be paired with a specialized licensed therapist that you choose in working with your case specialist. If you have previously worked with a therapist that your like or have been recommended to a specific therapist, please let your case specialist know if you would like to work with them. Once assigned, your therapist will work with you to overcome the mental, emotional, and/or relational challenges you have been facing. Of course, Overt Foundation will fund a large percentage of the sessions and the difference will be covered by you at the time of completing your onboarding survey.
You will complete a series of journaling prompts weekly. Journaling is a critical and important part of your mental and emotional wellness journey. Journaling will assist you in identifying, accepting, and improving your thoughts and emotions. Research has proven that journaling will: reduce your anxiety, break nonstop cycle of obsessive thinking and brooding, improve your awareness and perception of events, regulate your emotions, encourage better self-awareness, boost your physical health, and many more benefits…
Your weekly journaling is an opportunity for you to explore different elements of your life, reflect on areas of improvement, and recognize process, and regulate your thoughts and emotions. The participants who make the most progress in our program take the journaling assignments seriously and apply themselves weekly. Your case specialist will work with you to ensure you have the support you need in completing your weekly journaling.
Throughout the program and at the end you will review your progress with your case specialist. Here you will be able to discuss any developments and progress you have made as well as any challenges you may have felt. We aim to support you as much as possible, so it will be important for you to be transparent and honest with us so we can provide the support you need. At the end of your program if you feel like you need to arrange any follow-up sessions this can also be accommodated upon approval.
Once you complete your approved sessions, you will be asked to complete a simple graduation survey. This survey is similar to the onboarding survey so if many of the questions seem to be the same, they are. We will compare the progress made based on your self-reported answers, so please answer them as accurately as possible.
In honor of the progress you have made, and the opportunity the Overt Foundation provided to you through support and financial assistance, we ask each graduate to find a way to give back. Offering your time, talents, or financial support will help us continue to assist people like yourself who need therapy, but do not have access. Upon graduation, please let us know how you would like to give back by speaking with your case specialist, applying to volunteer on our website, or email us at info@overtfoundation.org.
